See you in the funny papers Em!

Well , Emma's doctor visit went excellent!! She was very scared because last time we went she had to give blood. YIKES!! For as small as she is it takes 3 nurses to hold her down. She's a feisty little thing. They didn't have to take blood this time. Yay! Dr. Ray said Emma was making "REMARKABLE PROGRESS" in both her knee and wrist. She has been working so hard in therapy and at home and I couldn't be more proud! I am so thankful to our dear friend and her PT Lauren!! She helps Emma so much.
Porter is doing great. He started daycare last Wednesday. Everyone just loves him. He is so chill. He is already learning how to hold his bottle up by himself. (That's gonna be nice!) He is the total opposite of Emma when she started daycare. WOW is all i can say! I would drop her off and she would cry the whole time. :) I'm so glad she is over that stage.
I wanted to write some of the funny things Emma says so she will always have them. Here are just a few:
 - Porter was laying beside Emma on the couch and she was trying to watch Hannah Montana. He started fussing and she said "Porter! STOP! Your making my nerves!"
- She was looking at mine and Scott's wedding picture over our mantle and she said "Dad, you look terrible!" He told her that wasn't very nice. She thought about it for a bit and said "No daddy that flower you have on is pretty but that outfit is terrible". Not much better Emma.
- We rent movies from Red Box and one night I told her that we were gonna go to Red Box so get dressed. She came in with this terrible outfit and shoes that didn't fit. I told her she needed to change so she could at least match. She said "Mommy stop. The box won't care!"
- We were laying in bed one morning and she was snuggling with me. She got up next to my face and of course I had morning breath. She gave me a hug and said "Mommy I love you so much but I don't love your mouth."
- She was riding in the car with Aunt Lauren and Namaw. She saw something outside and said "Look! That is flipping awesome!"

A Day with Old Friends

<>
The Hostesses with Amanda

Today I got to hang out with my girls! Kimberly, Vanessa, and I threw Amanda a baby shower for Saylor. It was so good to see everyone and it's always fun to catch up. It seems like yesterday, we were throwing each other wedding showers and now it's on to babies.

Emma is unfortunately very shy so it takes her a while to warm up. Her true personality doesn't come out a lot of times. She doesn't get that from me and she definitely doesn't get that from Scott. Maybe it's Uncle Donnie.  Emma is so hilarious and I wish she would get out of that shell faster. When we were leaving, she turned around and said "Mom, I had such a great time. Did you have a great time?" Porter is the total opposite. As soon as he walks in the door, he is smiling and flirting with Heather and whoever else will talk to him a bit.

We are staying at Nana's house until Tuesday because Emma goes to see her JRA specialist in Jackson. She has to go every 3 months to get checked for progress. Last time we got great news so we are praying hard for good news again. :) My sister-in-laws (Lauren and Tahler) live in Jackson so we get to have lunch with them. YAY!

Porter LOVES his big sister!!

Where do I begin?

I'm finally gonna give this blog thing a try. I know it will be worth it for Emma and Porter to have all their memories saved in one place. This blog will be mostly about Emma who is 3 years old and Porter who will be 6 months in a week. We just wrapped up our first Christmas holiday with sweet Porter. They had a wonderful Christmas with both of our families! They definitely got spoiled. One of my favorite parts of Christmas was when Scott's parents and my parents opened their calendar filled with pictures of the children. I created them on Shutterfly and they turned out precious!

Emma is now a professional gift unwrapper. (or so she claims). She had so much fun unwrapping presents. It makes everything worth while to see her face and hear her say after every gift "Oh my gosh!" or "It is so beautiful!" She loves her new American doll (Lilly) that Santa brought her with lots of doll outfits and a dog named Coco. My neice Riley got one as well so they got to play dolls together. She also got an awesome art easel from namaw and tapaw and a trampoline from nana and pop.
A funny thing that happened at Chrsitmas Eve mass. We have a new priest that is amazing at including the children. He called all the children to the front of the church to sit on the steps. And surprisingly Emma went up there. (She had help from her cousin Holly) After about 5 minutes here comes Emma running down the aisle (thank goodness I was on the end seat) and she found me and threw her lip gloss at me. She said here mom hold my gloss and ran back to the front. Another 5 minutes go by and here comes Emma once again. She stopped right in front of me and began holding herself doing the tee-tee dance. "Mom I have to go potty BAD!" She said it of course at the most quiet time of mass it seemed. I was so embarassed! Gotta love kids!
Oh how I love Christmas time now with young ones. Emma gets so excited about everything. She loves Christmas music, shopping for presents, helping me wrap them. She is at that amazing age now where Christmas is the most amazing thing in the world. We can also bribe her to do things she normally wouldn't want to do like take medicine. :) I can't tell you the number of times that we said Santa or Buddy (her elf) are watching you or I'm gonna call Santa and tell him to take that bike out of the sleigh. It was nice!!

Memorial Hospital - Our 2nd home

Well, we managed to make it through the Christmas Holidays with both kids on antibiotics for their sinus infections. After Chirstmas, both kids were still coughing and runny noses. I finally decided to take them both in after Christmas when Porter's cough started to sound wheezy. They both had bronchiolitis and Porter was positive for RSV. His oxygen level was at 90% and it should stay around 100%. We were admitted into the hospital and found ourselves in the room directly across from Emma's old room back in May. He had to get a chest x-ray, blood work, and breathing treatments. He did wonderful through everything! As bad as he felt, he smiled the whole time. Nana came down to help us out which made things much easier (even her just being in the room makes me feel so much better). He was doing breathing treatments round the clock. Porter was known as the super baby because he never cried while he was given blood, getting an IV, taking his IV out, or all the temperature checks. We stayed Tuesday night and Wednesday night. He is doing much better now. He will continue the breathing treatments for the next few weeks.

Emma is better too. We are having so much trouble getting Emma to take medicine now. I think it may just be too much with her other daily medications for her arthritis.  In case you didn't know, Emma was diagnosed with Oligoarticular JRA last May, which is a form of artirtis in children that affects 2 joints - her knee and wrist. Most kids grow out of it by 5 or 6 yrs old and she is on the road to recovery now. We pray that it will go away!!! She is working hard with our dear friend Lauren Smith who is her physical therapist. Emma loves Mrs. Lauren. She has to take a lot of doses of different medicines but Emma is a trooper for sure!!! She has been through more in her 3 years than most people have been through in their lives. She is an angel and Porter only makes her sweeter. I am so lucky to have the most amazing, beautiful children!! It puts a smile on mine and Scott's face everyday!
